Every garden is unique, and so is every client. We offer a bespoke garden design service tailored to the requirements of each individual project. Whether you require a complete garden transformation or advice on a particular aspect of your landscape, we can provide a comprehensive design package or individual services to suit your needs.

Our services range from the initial consultation and concept design through to detailed masterplans, construction drawings, planting design, contractor liaison and support during implementation.

A comprehensive garden design project may include the following stages, although not every project requires each element.

1. Consultation and Brief

Every successful garden begins with understanding how you wish to use and experience your outdoor space. During our initial consultation we discuss your aspirations, lifestyle, priorities, budget, timescale, likes and dislikes, together with the character of your property and its surroundings. This forms the basis of a written design brief that guides the project from concept to completion.

2. Site Survey and Appraisal

A thorough understanding of the site is fundamental to creating a successful garden. We measure and photograph the existing garden or, for larger projects, arrange a professional topographical survey. We assess factors such as levels, existing trees and structures, soil conditions, drainage, aspect, shade, exposure, frost pockets and views, identifying both opportunities and constraints before design work begins.

3. Concept Proposals

The concept design establishes the overall vision for the garden. We develop presentation drawings, mood imagery and, where appropriate, three-dimensional visualisations to illustrate the proposed layout, character, materials and planting style. This stage allows us to refine the design with you, ensuring the proposals fully reflect your aspirations before moving into detailed design.

4. Masterplan, Construction Drawings & Specifications

Once the concept has been approved, we prepare the detailed information required to build the garden. This typically includes a comprehensive masterplan together with construction drawings and specifications where necessary. These documents enable contractors to prepare accurate quotations and ensure the garden is constructed to a high standard while remaining faithful to the design.

5. Planting Plan and Plant Supply

Planting is an integral part of every garden we design. We prepare detailed planting plans showing the location and quantity of every plant together with presentation material to illustrate the finished effect. Our planting schemes are carefully developed to provide year-round interest, complement the architecture and landscape, encourage biodiversity and thrive in the site’s conditions. We source high-quality plants through trade nurseries which represent a significant saving compared with retail prices. We will then set the plants out in their correct positions ready for planting.

6. Tendering

Where appropriate, we obtain quotations from carefully selected landscape contractors. Each contractor receives the same set of drawings and specifications, allowing quotations to be compared fairly and ensuring the project is priced accurately before construction begins.

7. Site liaison

We can undertake regular visits to inspect the project construction on your behalf. We aim to ensure that the construction and planting are completed as per plan and the finishes as specified.

Aftercare

Gardens continue to evolve long after construction has been completed. We are happy to revisit completed projects to review the establishment of planting, advise on maintenance and management, and make recommendations that will help your garden mature and fulfil its long-term potential.
