Jeremy Allen Profile

Profile

Jeremy Allen Garden Design was established in 2008 following a successful first career and a lifelong passion for gardens and plants. Jeremy trained at the internationally renowned Inchbald School of Design, graduating with distinction, before gaining valuable experience working for an internationally award-winning garden designer.

Design Experience

Jeremy combines professional garden design training with over 30 years of practical gardening experience. He has created three large gardens of his own from scratch, giving him a deep understanding of how gardens are conceived, constructed, planted and managed over time. His current four-acre garden has evolved over twenty years from an overgrown thicket into a richly structured landscape featuring tree avenues, formal hedges, topiary, water features, a natural pond, orchard, kitchen garden and extensive herbaceous planting. The garden has been featured in national magazines, books and on BBC Gardener’s World.

Working as a hands-on gardener has given Jeremy an appreciation of the practical realities of creating and maintaining gardens. His extensive horticultural knowledge enables him to develop planting schemes that are both beautiful and sustainable, selecting plants that are well suited to the site, provide long periods of interest and are straightforward to maintain. New plants are regularly trialled in his own garden before being recommended for clients wherever appropriate.

Jeremy believes the best gardens combine strong design with excellent horticulture. They should be beautiful, practical, enduring and deeply connected to their surroundings. His approach is founded on creating robust structure that is enriched by carefully considered planting, resulting in gardens that mature gracefully and continue to improve with time.
